POSITION PURPOSE
The Data Scientists position within DGSHAPE will be responsible for helping us to utilize existing datasets that have been gathered from multiple sources into actionable items.  Data pulled from milling machines, customer information, surveys and service data will be utilized to create recommendations on how to start predictive service offerings.   Statistical models will be generated to aid in coming to insights within many aspects of the DGSHAPE business.  Additionally, we want to explore the uses of Generative AI in aiding us to gain insights in our business dealings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Driving Business Impact:
o You will create meaningful presentations and analyses that tell a “story” focused on insights, not just data
o Synthesize methodology and data into actionable business strategy, and communicate findings to product, engineering, and management teams.
Use statistical and econometric techniques on large datasets to:
o Measure results and show key trends
o Identify causal impact and attribution
o Analyze experiments
o Model and predict future performance of users or products

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Timely and accurate models developed to specifications for specific projects
Accuracy of data models and analysis reporting
Communication of insights to relevant parties
Documentation on data and analysis systems

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
:
Work experience involving quantitative data analysis to solve problems
Degree in progress for Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or other quantitative field
Experience with SQL and other programming languages (Python)
Experience with Power BI preferable
Experience with statistical software (R/Stat/SAS/Matlab)
Expert with Excel and Powerpoint

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Must be familiar with current version of Microsoft SQL (general database knowledge/experience), Application development experience in an Microsoft environment, Data Modeling/Relational Database Design 
Experience with any business intelligence applications 
Strong team working skills, an analytical nature, life-long learning and excellent written and oral communications skills are requirements for this position 
Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with new release software, and research possible solutions using the internet and other available resources 
Experience with data analysis and data modeling; data warehouse experience a plus 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience creating models and forecasts with medium to large datasets
Analysis work to glean insights from data and making recommendations based on those insights.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to completion on deadline
Ability to prioritize work according to urgency and importance
Ability to interface with stake holders of various projects as well as IS team members
Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

SALARY: 

$55,000 - $68,000 annually

Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.  (Almost all office jobs.)

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. 

Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables. 

MATHEMATICS ABILITY 

Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; ratio and proportion and percentage. 

Able to perform very simple algebra. 

LANGUAGE ABILITY 

Ability to read periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias.   

Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. 

Ability to conduct training, communicate at panel discussions and to make professional presentations.
