SOLJET PRO III XC-540 Large-Format Printer/Cutter Features
Print/Cut Advantage
The XC-540 large-format printer/cutter streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics. Eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics, the XC-540 has an integrated cutter that saves valuable time and effort.
Quadralign
For laminating graphics, simply remove prints, laminate and reload them for precision cutting. The Quadralign four-point optical registration system automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion. The XC-540 can also function as a stand-alone vinyl cutter.
Eco-Sol MAX Ink
Eco-Sol MAX is a remarkable innovation in ink technology. Virtually odorless, Eco-Sol Max provides fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low-cost per square foot, and broad uncoated media support.
For the standard six-color configuration, Eco-Sol MAX comes in CMYKLcLm ink sets (220 mL or 440 mL cartridges). Eco-Sol MAX graphics are water and UV resistant up to three years outdoors*.
The XC-540 large-format printer/cutter was designed with high-volume production in mind, and comes standard with a protective removable tray for Roland’s 440 mL Eco-Sol MAX cartridges. The XC-540 and VersaWorks™ RIP software monitor ink levels in both 220 mL and 440 mL cartridges, alerting the operator when levels run low.
* Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions.
Roland Intelligent Pass Control Technology
Roland’s proprietary Roland Intelligent Pass Control™ consists of a combination of firmware and software advancements plus optimized machine stability to reduce ink bleed and irregular feeding between passes. The result is improved print quality and throughput, while virtually eliminating banding. With the addition of Roland Intelligent Pass Control, the XC-540 is up to twice as fast in Standard print mode when printing on vinyl*. In all print modes, XC-540 graphics reflect stunning image quality with exceptionally smooth gradations and flawless solid colors.
* Print speeds vary depending on the media and print mode selected.
Precision Firing Pattern
The XC-540 large-format printer/cutter precisely controls droplet placement in both the print head travel and paper feed directions to provide up to 1440 x 1440 dpi resolution. It uses a digital servomotor to control the media and features Piezo print heads. Variable droplet technology uses micro-precise ink droplets of three different sizes depending on the type of output. This state-of-the-art technology delivers truly breathtaking output with beautifully smooth, dot-free tones even at high print speeds.
When printing at higher speeds, many printers only produce low-density color with severely reduced image quality. However, with Roland’s unique Precision Firing Pattern, you are able to achieve the highest printing speeds possible while maintaining vibrant, high-density colors.
To achieve this, the XC-540’s Precision Firing Pattern uses Light Ink Control, a powerful VersaWorks™ feature that reduces the impact of banding in bi-directional modes and of white banding caused by slight feeding errors. The feature raises ink density by increasing the ratio of Lc and Lm, resulting in smaller spaces between the landed dots.
The XC-540 takes advantage of this advanced firing pattern for unparalleled image quality in every print mode. In addition, Roland’s in-line head configuration eliminates the need for lengthy calibration procedures and costly down time.
To further ensure the highest print quality, VersaWorks supports industry standard ICC profiles. In addition, VersaWorks comes with several Roland media profiles and is compatible with profiles created through standard profiling packages. An updated list of profiles can be accessed through the Roland@NET service.
Six-Color Printing
Roland six-color CMYK+LcLm inks combine with variable droplet technology to deliver more detail in the highlights and smoother blends and transitions overall. The addition of Light Cyan and Light Magenta enhances blues and reds, ensures flawless flesh tones and improves image quality across lighter colors.
High Print Speeds
In addition to printing photorealistic graphics and fine art reproductions, the XC-540 can produce six-color 360 x 360 dpi signs, banners and POP displays at 441 sq. ft. per hour (40.9m2/hr) (CMYKLcLm configuration). With one-inch wide print heads that employ 360 nozzles each, the XC-540 prints (30 sq. ft.) (2.8m2) banners in only minutes.
Eco-Sol Media
Eco-Sol Media is developed especially for Roland Eco-Sol MAX ink, which is used by Roland large-format printers and printer/cutters. It includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated adhesive-backed vinyl, and other popular substrates. The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper. All Roland media is carefully tested and profiled to consistently achieve high-quality results.
VersaWorks RIP Software
VersaWorks RIP software has been developed exclusively for Roland printers and printer/cutters. This true Adobe® PostScript 3 RIP ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease-of-use, and incorporates the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine.
VersaWorks supports the Roland Color System, allowing users to accurately reproduce more than 1,000 spot colors from color charts and swatch books.
With VersaWorks, you can choose from several print mode options, including a high-speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics, and Artistic mode for exceptional indoor graphics. In addition, VersaWorks features Variable Data Printing, as well as supports up to four Roland devices simultaneously, including printers, cutters and printer/cutters. It also automatically estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic so you can accurately monitor time and costs.
VersaWorks features include embedded ICC profile support, ink level adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities, error diffusion for outstanding print quality, and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options. Complete with support for Roland cutters, VersaWorks allows you to pair a cutter with any large-format or desktop printer for print/cut applications. The PerfCut function produces precision perforated cut lines. VersaWorks is fully compatible with Windows® 7, XP and Vista.
