“We keep our Roland DG CAD/CAM equipment in our front office area. People are fascinated by the technology,” said Dr. Alex Vizcarra, Owner/Dentist of Vizcarra Dentistry in La Habra, California.

Dr. Vizcarra, in practice for more than 25 years, opened his state-of-the-art 2,300 square foot facility in 2009.  Dr. Vizcarra’s office is equipped with a Roland DG DWX-4W wet dental milling machine.  “Based on my previous experience with Roland DG mills, I have a high degree of confidence in milling restorations chairside,” said Dr. Vizcarra.

Incorporating digital dental workflows
“Especially with the introduction of lower cost, open-source systems, more and more dentists are interested in incorporating digital dental workflows,” said Dr. Vizcarra.

For Dr. Vizcarra, digital dentistry represents a step forward both in terms of accuracy and consistency. “I or my trained staff can now have absolute control over the fit, contours, margins, anatomy, and material, according to the patient’s needs,” said Dr. Vizcarra.

Dr. Vizcarra considered several factors before investing in his DWX-4W.  “It had to make sense financially.  I also considered workflow, and the use of dental auxiliaries,” said Vizcarra.  “Our goal was to be able to produce same-day restorations that fit correctly the first time around.

“Especially with the introduction of lower cost, open-source systems, more and more dentists are interested in incorporating digital dental workflows.”

“I am very impressed with the detail, accuracy and consistency of the restorations produced by the DWX-4W.  It has produced some of my most beautiful and perfectly fitting restorations.”

Dr. Vizcarra also values the DWX-4W’s ease of use.  “It just has one button, and software that’s very intuitive,” he said.  “The bur-changing ability is also a very valuable feature.”

Adding value for patients
Dr. Vizcarra values the open architecture of the DWX-4W, which supports multiple materials and CAM software.

“I can fabricate same-day restorations in about two and a half to three hours total,” said Dr. Vizcarra.  “We are providing patients with excellent service, treating them more conservatively, more comfortably, and with less impact on their busy schedules.”
