LD Events Décor adds Flair with Digitally Printed Graphics

LD Events Decor   |   Lake Zurich, Illinois

LD Events Décor is an innovative events décor business providing custom décor for weddings, parties, and corporate events.

In the event industry, many clients place last-minute orders. Being able to execute large-scale custom graphics quickly without sacrificing quality is invaluable.

Before

  • Customers were asking for custom-printed wedding decals, dance floors and branded event graphics.
  • In addition to projects for individuals, they wanted to be able to accommodate requests from companies with more demanding color requirements.

After

  • Orders for full-color customized floor graphics, car wraps, window graphics, door signage and branded event graphics increased rapidly and became a popular service.
  • The XG's wide color gamut allows accurate, high-quality reproduction of corporate brand colors.
  • The company is able to produce its large-scale custom graphics while meeting the demanding deadlines that are typical in the industry.

Before opening his own business, Dmytro Lakhman of LD Events Décor in Lake Zurich, Illinois, made sure he knew exactly what he was getting into. He'd worked for another event décor company and understood that impeccable service and attention to detail, not to mention stunning high-quality décor, would be what set his business apart. "From the beginning, my goal was to create experiences that stand out and to approach every project with a level of care and professionalism that I felt was often missing in the industry," he said.

We talked with Dmytro about his journey in building his thriving events décor business, how he's grown his corporate events clientele, and what production equipment helps keep his company at the forefront of this fast-moving industry.

What were the steps you took in starting your company?

Dmytro Lakhman, Founder, LD Events Décor: Before I launched my own business, I gained valuable industry experience and saw firsthand what clients were looking for, as well as where there were gaps in service, creativity, and execution. I realized there was an opportunity to create a company that focused not only on high-quality décor, but also on innovation, customization, and attention to detail.

That vision ultimately led me to launch LD Events Décor in 2013. We currently operate with a lean core team of two full-time employees, while also scaling with additional labor and specialized crews depending on the size and scope of events, which allows us to stay highly hands-on and maintain quality control across every project.

Are you still in your original location, or have you relocated?

Dmytro Lakhman: Remaining in the same community while continuing to scale the business has been very important to us. Our first facility was approximately 2,500 square feet. As demand for our services and inventory grew, we upgraded into a 15,000-square-foot facility to better accommodate our clients, fabrication capabilities, and growing inventory.

One of the unique aspects of our operation is our in-house fabrication capability. We have CNC machinery on-site as well as metal, wood, and acrylic fabrication capabilities, along with our Roland DG eco-solvent printer/cutter. I often say that we can make just about anything, and having those resources in-house allows us to bring highly customized concepts to life efficiently and creatively.

We also have dedicated areas where we meet with clients to discuss concepts, review samples, and plan projects. We are currently working on expanding our showroom experience to better showcase our inventory and expertise.

Have your services expanded over the years?

Dmytro Lakhman: Absolutely. Growth and reinvestment have always been a major part of our business philosophy. We are constantly adding new inventory, introducing new concepts, and investing in equipment and fabrication to stay ahead of trends in the event industry.

At the same time, we also repurpose and redesign older inventory to keep it fresh and relevant. Our willingness to continually evolve and reinvest into the business has allowed us to grow beyond what many companies in the industry are willing to do. Innovation is a huge part of who we are.

At what point did you decide to add wide-format digital printing capability?

Dmytro Lakhman: In 2022, we added wide-format digital printing capabilities due to a significant increase in demand for custom-printed wedding decals, dance floors, and branded event graphics. We were introduced to Roland DG through others in the event and wrap industries, and after seeing the print quality firsthand, we were extremely impressed.

Our first printer was the Roland DG TrueVis VG3, which was a major investment for the company at the time. Since then, printing has become a major component of our business, and we now produce a wide variety of printed applications, including floor wraps, car wraps, window graphics, door signage, branded event graphics, and custom décor elements for clients nationwide.

We recently decided to replace our VG3 with Roland DG's TrueVis XG-640 printer/cutter. The decision came down to two major factors: speed and quality. The XG has absolutely been worth the investment because it allows us to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining the standards our clients expect. We have been extremely happy with the reliability, consistency, and productivity of the machine.

In the event industry, many clients place last-minute orders. Being able to execute large-scale custom graphics quickly without sacrificing quality is invaluable. For example, a 24' x 24' dance floor wrap that previously took more than 12 hours to print can now be completed in approximately six hours with the XG. That level of speed allows us to take on projects that otherwise would not have been possible under tight deadlines.

How do your clients react to the finished product?

Dmytro Lakhman: Our clients are consistently excited and impressed by the final results we are able to achieve with our fabrication and printing capabilities. Seeing their vision come to life — especially under tight timelines — is always rewarding.

One of the most common challenges we face involves last-minute custom dance floor wraps. With the XG printer, we can confidently take on these urgent projects and still deliver high-quality results, which is critical in the event industry. It's very rewarding to see the finished product become a focal point of the event experience.

In addition to weddings, what are some of the other types of events you serve?

Dmytro Lakhman: While weddings are a major part of our business, we also provide décor and production services for a wide variety of events including corporate events, birthdays, bar and bat mitzvahs, quinceañeras, galas, private celebrations, and large-scale social events.

Our versatility allows us to adapt to many different event styles and client needs.

How have you built your corporate clientele?

Dmytro Lakhman: A large portion of our business comes from repeat corporate clients. We work with companies on branded events, experiential activations, holiday parties, conferences, product launches, and custom installations. Corporate clients appreciate our ability to execute custom fabrication and branded décor elements while maintaining strict timelines and quality standards.

The XG's ability to achieve vibrant, accurate colors across different applications has been a huge advantage for us. Accurate color reproduction is especially important for corporate branding, where consistency and brand standards matter tremendously.

Have you noticed any recent trends in event décor? Where do you think the industry is headed?

Dmytro Lakhman: One noticeable trend is a shift away from fully custom-printed flooring and décor in some segments of the market, primarily due to rising material costs, including ink and vinyl.

As a result, many clients are gravitating toward more timeless options such as white, checkered, or reusable dance floors. At the same time, there is still strong demand for unique, immersive experiences, so customization continues to play an important role — clients are simply becoming more strategic about where they invest.

Why do you think your clients choose LD Events Décor?

Dmytro Lakhman: I believe clients choose us because of our commitment to quality and execution. Unfortunately, in this industry, it is common to see corners being cut — whether that means poor print alignment, unclean backdrops, rushed installations, or lower-quality materials.

Our philosophy has always been simple: treat every project as if it were for your own family. We believe in doing things the right way, even when it requires extra effort or attention to detail. That mindset has helped us build long-term relationships and a strong reputation for quality and reliability.

What does the future hold for LD Events Décor?

Dmytro Lakhman: We are currently expanding heavily into chair rentals and additional lounge furniture offerings, which is something I am very excited about. We also plan to continue growing our floral capabilities and overall fabrication services. In addition, we are exploring opportunities for an eventual expansion into a 30,000+ square-foot facility. Our focus moving forward is continued innovation, growth, and creating even more immersive event experiences for our clients.

At LD Events Décor, we truly care about bringing each client's vision to life in a way that feels unique and intentional. We combine creativity, customization, state-of-the-art production, and hands-on service to create experiences that guests remember long after the event ends. We're constantly evolving, and investing in new inventory, fabrication capabilities, and innovative event experiences, to better serve our customers.
