Roland DGA Announces Winners of Creative Awards Contest

Wide-format digital printing leader Roland DGA has announced the winners of its recent Creative Awards Contest, a competition designed to showcase the diverse and highly original array of projects produced by Roland users. A total of three winners were selected over the Aug 11-29 contest period, with each winner receiving a free trip to Roland's inaugural imagiNATION™ 2014 inkjet user conference, Oct. 21 in Las Vegas, including round-trip airfare, lodging and event registration.

"All three of this year's winning entries are great examples of what can be accomplished when imagination, skill and state of-the-art digital printing technology are combined," said Rick Scrimger, president of Roland DGA. "We congratulate all of our contest winners on their abilities and accomplishments, and look forward to playing host to each of them at imagiNATION 2014."

Below is a list of the Roland Creative Awards Contest Winners, along with brief descriptions and images of their award-winning entries:

Week 1 Winner: StickerCity, Sherman Oaks, Calif.

This stunning holographic, multi-color chrome wrap of a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster incorporates an intricate design and vibrant, eye-catching colors, showcasing both the talents of the StickerCity team and the advanced capabilities of their Roland SOLJET Pro 4 XR-640 printer/cutter. According to StickerCity's Andy Soleimani, wrapping this car was an extremely complicated process due to continued patterns from body panel to body panel that required the application of multiple layers to create the final effect. Week 2 Winner: Monster Image, Huntington Beach, Calif.

Monster Image blended more than 120 high-resolution photos taken from all different angles to produce this truly unusual wrap, transforming an ordinary bathroom into a one-of-a-kind room with a view. When you're sitting on the "throne," the 360-degree panoramic wrap creates the illusion of being atop a Copper Canyon, Arizona cliff, looking down on the pristine waters below. Monster Image used a Roland SOLJET Pro 4 XR-640 to print the detailed images needed to successfully complete the project. Click here to view image.

Week 3 Winner: SignCo, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

SignCo used a Roland VersaArt RS-640 printer to produce this attention-grabbing sign for Canada's Vancouver Aquarium. The 14' x 44' four-layer billboard features crisp, vivid colors, and an oversized, adventurous octopus that seems to have escaped the confines of its tank. The billboard's unique three-dimensional design features tentacles that extend well beyond the borders of the sign, literally reaching out to those who pass by. Click here to view image.
