Roland DGA Announces Development of New Wet Milling Machine for Producing Custom Dental Prosthetics

Irvine, Calif., Feb. 12, 2015 - Roland DGA Corporation, a leading worldwide provider of dental milling technologies, today announced the development of a new wet milling dental machine, the DWX-4W, to be exhibited at key dental conferences worldwide beginning in February 2015.

The recent introduction of CAD/CAM software, CNC milling machines and new restorative materials has revolutionized the production of dental prostheses, including crowns, copings and bridges. One of the most popular restorative materials is lithium disilicate, a glass ceramic which is gaining support from dental clinics and patients for its superior hardness and aesthetic qualities. Roland developed the DWX-4W milling machine especially to meet the demands of this growing market.

"The DWX-4W, a state-of-the-art device specifically designed for precision wet milling, perfectly complements our popular lineup of dry milling machines, which can be found in dental labs all over the world," said Brian Brooks, Roland DGA's dental solutions product manager.

Roland has identified a market need that it intends to fill. "While there are products currently available that combine dry milling and wet milling functionality in a single machine and process a variety of dental CAD/CAM materials, each of these devices requires a time-consuming, labor-intensive changeover when switching between wet and dry machining, noted Brooks. "You need to dispose of the milling residue, clean the inside of the machine, and make sure the processing area is dry. Roland's multiple-device solution enables users to perform both dry and wet milling, as well as process different materials, simultaneously and without a changeover, saving time, effort, and money. Unlike dual-function machines, which tend to compromise performance in their attempt to 'multi-task,' the Roland solution allows each mill to specialize in its intended function, ensuring optimum results."

In addition to maximizing convenience, performance and cost-efficiency, employing both Roland dry and wet mills in an integrated system facilitates scalability, making it simple for a growing business add a unit to meet increasing production requirements.
