Roland DG VersaCamm | Epic Sign Studio

Getting Fresh Looks with Metallics

Epic Sign Studio   |   Miami, FL

Proving the adage that two heads are better than one, Jason Morris and Lazaro Suarez have recently combined their shops to form Epic Sign Studio, where they bring high quality large format print solutions to market in Miami, Florida. They see the Roland DG VersaCAMM VS-640 64” digital printer/cutter as integral to their success. “With the metallic ink, we are able to offer our clients a unique look that helps them get noticed,” said Morris.

Morris and Suarez already knew the value of Roland DG’s technology. Before combining their shops, Suarez had been using a Roland DG VersaArt RS-640 and Morris had been working with a Roland DG CAMM-1 cutter. They purchased the VS for their new shop because of its white and metallic printing capability as well as its integrated print/cut solution.

Epic Sign Studio is a full service shop providing fine art prints, decals, wall murals, canvas prints and banners, and specializing in vehicle wrap work. Corporate and retail clients come to them for great design and flawless execution. Epic provides fleet vehicle graphics for large national corporations such as Goya Foods along with smaller chains such as National Health Transport.

“With the metallic ink, we are able to offer our clients a unique look that helps them get noticed.”

As a result of purchasing the VS, Morris and Lazaro have been able to expand their reach in the emerging personal vehicle wraps industry. As these custom wraps gain in popularity, Epic Sign Studio is seeing increasing numbers of sports car owners who want personalized graphics installed on their vehicles. Morris and Lazaro recently created and installed a matte finish wrap with a metallic pattern for a client’s 2009 Audi TT. “The client loved the effect,” said Morris. “Especially here in Miami, if people can afford to, they like to take it up a level. The metallic colors put it over the top.”

Morris also appreciates the VS’s metallic ink when running fine art prints on satin canvas. Artists come to Epic Sign Studio for high quality prints mounted on glass, aluminum and plexiglass. “There are some tones you can only hit with the metallic ink,” said Morris.

“We love this machine,” said Morris. “Its speed, metallic ink and size all work for us.”
