What should I do when the regulator drain bowl contains fluid or appears contaminated?
Cause
Moisture and dust will collect in the bowl due to the environment in your shop. It passes through the compressor and can accumulate in the bowl.
Solution
1. Draining the fluid in the bowl
Warning- Make sure to turn off the compressor first and bleed off any air pressure. The gauge needs to be at 0 before opening the drain knob.
Have a towel or a small container available to catch the mist or fluid. Slowly loosen the lower knob in a clockwise direction. Once all the of the fluid is
drained then go ahead and tighten the lower knob.
2. Cleaning out the bowl
Warning- Clean out the bowl with a mild detergent only, never use alcohol, thinners, or other solvents. These chemicals may degrade the bowl material and it could rupture.
Make sure to turn off the compressor first and bleed off any air pressure. The gauge needs to be at 0 before removing the bowl.
Slowly loosen the bowl in a clockwise direction, and then wash it out using a mild detergent. Make sure the bowl is completely dry before installing.
Tighten the bowl in a counterclockwise direction.
