Symptom
Zirconia being milled on the DWX-50 shows signs of chipping - usually around the margin/edge.

Cause

There are a few different reasons that chipping may occur on the DWX-50. The first and most frequent reason for chipping to occur is that the end mill/tool has been worn beyond its usable life. Other common causes of chipping is if the mill has not be correctly calibrated, the user may have recently changed to type of zirconia they were using, the collet may need to be tightened, or the collet has been removed repeatedly, and over tightened causing it to become deformed. Finally, the CAM milling strategies incorporate the diagnostics of the tools and type of material being milled. When incorrect milling parameters (feed rate and spindle speed) are used or the strategy is too aggressive, chipping may occur.

Solution
Properly clean (see cleaning video on DWX-50 support page) and calibrate the mill. Switch to a new set of tools. Check that the collet has been properly maintained or replace if there is a possibility it has been deformed. Check that the CAM strategies are correct and match the type of materials and tools being used.
