Roland Intelligent Pass Control
First introduced in SOLJET PRO III models, Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology (patent pending) is a combination of printer and software advancements that control the ink firing at the edge of each pass and deliver the proper ink density for all media in every print mode. The result is improved print quality and throughput while virtually eliminating banding. With Roland Intelligent Pass Control, VersaArt graphics reflect stunning image quality with exceptionally smooth gradations and flawless solid colors.
High-Speed Printing
Speed is one of the most critical factors in designing a wide format printer. For both eco-solvent and sublimated graphics, the VersaArt delivers the high speed performance your business demands.
ECO-SOL MAX Inks
ECO-SOL MAX is a remarkable innovation in ink technology, offering fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low cost per square foot, and broad uncoated media support. In addition, ECO-SOL MAX is virtually odorless.
The VersaArt features ECO-SOL MAX ink in four colors (CMYK) and in both 220ml and 440ml cartridges. ECO-SOL MAX graphics are water and UV resistant up to 3 years outdoors*. VersaWorks automatically monitors ink levels in both 220ml or 440ml cartridges and posts a warning when levels run low.
* Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions.
Piezo Print Heads
Image is everything in the digital printing world and thousands of Roland owners depend on their printers to deliver stunning image quality day in and day out.
Equipped with our most popular and reliable Piezo print heads, the VersaArt offers up 1440x720 dpi variable dot printing for smooth transitions and precision details in a proven wide-format system. This state-of-the-art technology delivers truly breathtaking output with flawless dot-free tones even at high print speeds on a wide range of media from vinyl and banner to paper and fabrics.
VersaWorks RIP Software
VersaWorks RIP software has been developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters. This true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use and incorporates the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine.
VersaWorks supports the Roland Color system which accurately reproduces more than 1,000 spot colors from color charts and swatch books. With VersaWorks, users can choose from print options including a high-speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics and Artistic mode for exceptional indoor graphics. In addition, VersaWorks features Variable Data Printing and supports up to four Roland devices simultaneously including printers, printer/cutters and cutters. It automatically estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic so you can accurately monitor time and costs.
VersaWorks features include embedded ICC profile support, ink level adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities, error diffusion for outstanding print quality and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options. Support for Roland cutters allows you to pair a Roland cutter with any wide-format or desktop printer for print/cut applications. The PerfCut function produces precision perforated cut lines. VersaWorks 4.0 is fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000.
Advanced Media Handling
VersaArt printers ensure precision media feeding throughout long production runs. For maximum productivity, the VersaArt features all-new heavy duty media shafts and flanges that stabilize printer performance and support media rolls up to 88 lbs. For unattended roll-to-roll printing, optional take-up systems are available.
Contour Cut Your Printed Graphics
To contour cut printed graphics, pair your VersaArt eco-solvent printer with a GX series cutter. VersaWorks’ support for the GX series allows you to quickly and easily cut the most intricate designs for signs, banners, t-shirt heat transfers, POP, vehicle wraps, labels and decals. The GX features revolutionary Roland Quadralign™ technology that precisely reads crop marks on pre-printed data and aligns the graphic for perfect contour cutting.
Integrated Heating System
Roland printers are designed to dry prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation and collection by the take-up system. The VersaArt features a built-in 2-stage integrated heater system to accommodate a wide range of media options. This advanced system precisely controls the proper amount of heat for each application, yielding outstanding results every time. For maximum convenience, users can store individual settings right in the printer.
Ethernet Connectivity
Roland understands that busy shops need to maximize the layout of their workstations and printing equipment. High-speed Ethernet network connectivity comes standard with the VersaArt. As a result, the VersaArt can quickly process gigabytes of image data to support everyone in your shop.
ECO-SOL Media (Eco-Solvent Models)
ECO-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland ECO-SOL MAX ink and includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated and coated substrates. The line-up currently consists of gloss, matte, clear and translucent calendered and premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner, fine art canvas and solvent gloss paper. All Roland media is carefully tested and profiled to consistently achieve high-quality results.
Reliability
As with all Roland inkjet printers, the VersaArt is a virtually bulletproof production machine. With regular maintenance, it will provide years of trouble-free service. But, unlike most solvent inkjets that require daily maintenance, the VersaArt requires servicing significantly less often for maximum productivity.

For a high-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.28 per sqft. and an average media cost* of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.58 per sqft.
