Garage Graphics Transforms Hummer H2 Into a Marketing Monster

Jim Erion of Aliso Viejo, California bought a Hummer last year. But unlike countless others in Southern California, Erion’s rig was not destined for family trips to the mountains or fun days at the beach. This H2 was born to advertise Erion’s growing pest control business.

“I guess you could call it my marketing machine,” said Erion. “Our vision for the Hummer was a diamond-plated tank with our mascot and Web site emblazoned across each side. Everything just fell into place perfectly.”

Erion outfitted the Hummer with custom rims, a lift and all chrome accessories shortly after pulling it off the lot. Then, in search of vehicle art that really sells, Erion pulled into Garage Graphics.

Owned by Eric Goodwin, Garage Graphics is a legendary sign shop in Orange County known for its cutting edge vehicle art. The Garage Graphics’ design team gave the Hummer a mean military look that would scare any colony of termites, and send them scurrying for the hills. The camouflage pictured here is actually part of a custom fill created by Aurora Graphics in Wichita, Kansas.

Goodwin printed the Hummer graphics with a 54” Roland SOLJET printer/cutter and ECO-SOL MAX inks. He used Roland’s Restyling Media Solution for the first time, printing the graphics on Roland premium cast vinyl and protecting them with Roland premium cast overlaminate film. Together, the media is specially engineered to adhere seamlessly to even the most complex surfaces for up to 60 months outdoors. The flat sides of the Hummer proved to be little challenge for Goodwin.

“The graphics went on easily and looked like they were painted on,” said Goodwin.

Erion’s new custom Hummer got noticed immediately. “I take the Hummer everywhere,” Erion said. “I drive it to the mall on the weekends and park it at home shows and even the Anaheim Pond. Kids especially go crazy over it and are always pointing at the vehicle.”
