That Legendary L.A. Style

Eric Goodwin of Garage Graphics applied his first vehicle graphics when he was 20 years old. His buddy drove up in a white Acura Integra, grabbed a racing stripe kit off the back seat and asked for some help with the installation. As fate would have it, that souped-up Acura was the start of something big.

“Those racing stripes turned out pretty much flawless,” Goodwin said. “When we stood back and admired them, something clicked in me. I suddenly had a passion for vehicle graphics and wanted to learn everything about designing, producing and installing them.”

Today, Goodwin’s “garage” produces the graphics for about 30 cars every year at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. And while he produces everything from banners to t-shirts, it’s his cutting edge vehicle art that has made his shop a local legend.

In fact, Goodwin’s vehicle art has made numerous TV appearances on Pimp My Ride and Monster Garage. It has also been featured in the hit movie Terminator III. Remember the Toyota Tundra on steroids? Even celebrities have dropped in for Goodwin’s latest designs. Shaq customized his Lincoln Navigator, Travis Barker of Blink 182 restyled his Lexus GS300 and Kobe’s wife gave her ride Goodwin’s personal touch.

Goodwin’s distinct style has captivated the sports world as well, transforming the famous L.A. Kings Zamboni into a spectacular halftime mascot.

“We try to stay focused on what’s important,” Goodwin said. “It’s all about giving customers what they want, and that means producing stylin’ graphics with fast turnaround times.”

Ever since Goodwin founded Garage Graphics, he has insisted on using top-of-the-line sign-making equipment. Today, he owns three Roland vinyl cutters and two SOLJET inkjet printer/cutters.

The SOLJET integrated printer/cutters have become the focal point of Goodwin’s shop. They print banners, signs and vehicle graphics with smooth gradients, blends and special effects with hand-airbrushed smoothness and quality. Then, they automatically contour cut the graphics for a super clean look and fast production times.

“Using the latest technology allows us to offer our customers the very best and stay ahead of the competition,” Goodwin said. “The image quality and durability of the SOLJET printer/cutter is absolutely amazing. It lets us produce every job better and faster.”
